All procedures were performed or directly supervised by two trauma subspecialist consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeons at the Royal London Hospital — the UK's busiest Major Trauma Centre. Fracture complexity was quantified using the ZS score (Ahmad & Holmes), a validated continuous severity measure. This is the first study to specifically evaluate IMF use in isolated midface fracture fixation — a previously unaddressed gap in the literature.
